Yulista
W.S. Nielsen Company understands Value Engineering. When we receive drawings and sketches from architects/owners/contractors, we study, evaluate options and price furnish + install. If the budget presented is not aligned with the owner’s budget, the value engineering process begins.
Yulista, a Huntsville based Aviation company, supplies critical components to our military. They wanted an iconic entrance canopy for their new facility. We priced the canopy sketch and it was over budget. Owner, designer, WSN and our canopy manufacturer, CEAS+, got on a programme call to evaluate options and start the VE process.
What came out of the call was a new concept: a canopy inspired by Yulista’s ‘Y’ logo. By fine tuning the design and switching roof materials from glass to PentaGlass glazing, we were able to slim down the steel and foundations, reducing cost. Not to mention PentaGlass is also far less expensive then glass, while still offering daylight.
The result is a prefabricated, red powder coated, steel frame with hidden downspouts and a translucent Y shaped daylight roof – the entrance canopy looks like the logo… that’s how WSN does Value Engineering! Rapid installation, high end finish.
