W Atlanta Midtown

One of the most cost-effective architectural solutions for a building facelift is with a new entrance canopy. When the Sheraton Hotel in Midtown, Atlanta, rebranded as a W, in keeping with the brands chic image, the canopy needed to be different, stylish and a light beacon, serving as a landmark for midtown.

The design solution: a back lit, branded porte cochere. Kingspan Light + Air’s Qaudwall system was the perfect product to create the entrance ‘light cube’. The cube is 36’ x 36’ by 24’ tall and is backlit with led lights, creating a bright, iconic entrance feature to an existing building. We added aluminum trim to the outside to break up the cube and add a modern aesthetic. Two different panel colours were fabricated for the cube: clear over white and white over clear (alternating). The porte cochere is finished off with a huge W affixed to the translucent wall system (by others).
