Georgia State University’s Parking Deck backs up to a neighborhood. Fulfilling on the design of the parking deck, W.S. Nielsen worked with Gay Construction providing louvers on the building to help screen it from the neighborhood. Despite louvers, the local residents complained about car headlights from the parking deck, saying they were “obtrusive”.

A year later, WSN returned to the job site and installed greenscreen to the side of the parking deck which faces the neighborhood. 10‘ panels were stacked and installed along the 4-story façade, providing an excellent light pollution screen between the parking deck and the community. The greenscreen system has many applications. The trend we are seeing is parking decks throughout the southeast. It’s a cost effective, fast installation, which looks beautiful over time with many environmental benefits.
