As General Contractor, Skanska, was finishing up the construction of the new Mercedes-Benz North American Headquarters, they called to see if we could furnish & install a roof top trellis. W.S. Nielsen’s canopy manufacturer, CEAS+, can provide a turn -key, bolt together system requiring no field welding or field painting – a perfect solution for the application.
Working with Gensler Architects, we were able to take the concept sketch, then fully design, engineer, fabricate and install the custom rooftop trellis. One requirement for this ‘last minute add’ was additional structural support to be added under the roof in the office space below, which Skanska handled.
A CEAS+ trellis system can be powder coated to any colour. We colour matched to Mercedes-Benz Iridium Silver [same silver as their cars). In the design phase, we were able to optimize shade for the space below the trellis by recommending the louvers (latilla) be tilted.
Skanska and Mercedes-Benz were impressed with W.S. Nielsen’s quick turn around and the high-end finish of the rooftop trellis.
CEAS+ is the ‘easy button’ for W.S. Nielsen clients. Together, we work off a napkin sketch, freeing up owners, GC and architects. The DEFI process [Design, Engineer, Fabricate, Install] is a huge benefit to our clients because it speeds things up. Time is money; therefore, we also see a reduction in installation cost.
