Greatwolf Lodge
Great Wolf Lodge is a chain of the largest indoor water parks in the USA. A new GWL Resort was recently built in LaGrange, Georgia.
With the entire water park being indoors, Gensler Architects wanted to ensure the space was flooded with natural daylight. In order to achieve this goal, W.S. Nielsen, along with our daylighting partner, Kingspan Light + Air designed, engineered, fabricated, and installed a massive ridge skylight measuring 100’ x 30’.
The large indoor waterpark has a timber frame truss and a glass roof system would have put too much load on the wood. This truss system required a lightweight skylight and we had the perfect product to offer called QuadWall.
QuadWall features two layers of Pentaglass Translucent Glazing and it’s framed and panelized for rapid installation. The system provides incredible amounts of diffused sunlight with excellent insulation. It’s co-extruded with UV protection to maintain its colour and not turn yellow.
At night, the skylight system reflects down interior lighting, creating a dramatic space, perfect for hitting the River Canyon run at night!
CEAS+ is the ‘easy button’ for W.S. Nielsen clients. Together, we work off a napkin sketch, freeing up owners, GC and architects. The DEFI process [Design, Engineer, Fabricate, Install] is a huge benefit to our clients because it speeds things up. Time is money; therefore, we also see a reduction in installation cost.
